Let's Talk Fitness

My dad is now 80 years old and has written 2 books, Let's Talk Fitness and You'll Never Believe It.

Tony Naturale is a “natural sports celebrity” known throughout the United States, especially with 70- and even 80-year-old ever-young athletes who play baseball three and four times a week. He is their distinctive chronicler, with a bit of exaggeration and double doses of staying fit with humor. In the context of their collective journey as athletes-til-the-day-they-drop, Tony Naturale: Let’s Talk Fitness will grab you by the heart and blow your mind, for the basic premise that – through their diets, the exercises they do and how they are motivated (at an age when others are sitting on sofas in nursing homes only dreaming about exercise) – this stalwart band of die-hards continues to lead a stunning life. Find out what keeps them playing a young man’s game.

Retired Montclair Police Lieutenant Anthony V. Naturale, the gospel-turned-fitness author interviews dancers, doctors, nutritionists, students and athletes from 17 to 100 years of age, as well as letting you know the tips and tricks he uses to stay fit at 77 years of age.

Click here to buy the book or reach the author.

Anthony Naturale is a retired Montclair Police Lieutenant who served for over thirty years. He enjoys keeping fit in a variety of ways, especially by playing on the New Jersey softball Senior Olympic team. He lives in Wharton, New Jersey with his lovely wife.

Raw Protein Thin Mint Cookie Review

My 80 year old dad was visiting this past week and we decided to make the Pure 2 Raw's protein thin mint cookie recipe. I had already tried making them and asbolutely fell in love with them! They taste really good, and definitely remind me of the thin mints I used to be able to eat before I became gluten free. We had fun making them and even made a PROTEIN THIN MINT COOKIE VIDEOto show you how easy they are to make. These cookies are raw and not baked. After you make up the dough, you simply mold into a cookie and freeze. You won't believe how great they come out. They are hard like a regular cookie, but note that they have to stay cold, because the coconut oil in them will melt. I love these after a workout. Have fun making them... we sure did!

Be sure to CLICK HERE TO SEE OUR FUN VIDEO, as well as other you tube videos we've made. My son loves making the videos and I think he is getting better at holding the camera straight!

I found the Pure 2 Raw website awhile back and am having trying their recipes. It's so hard to find really good recipes when you are so limited to what you can eat. Here is the video from the girls at making their protein thin mint cookies:

Raw, Gluten Free, Dairy Free Banana Ice Cream

Did you ever think you could have ice cream for breakfast? Why not with our fantastic raw, gluten free, dairy free banana ice cream!

Super healthy - delicious - and easy!

1 Frozen Banana, Almond Milk and cinnamon to taste.

First thing you want to do is to remove the peel, cut up your banana and freeze. After your banana is frozen, combine a few tablespoons of almond milk and cinnamon to taste in the food processor.

You want to process until your banana mixture becomes the consistency of soft serve ice cream. You will need to stop and scrape the sides down a few times and can add more almond milk to help move it along. If you don't have almond milk then go ahead and use some water, it works just as well.

Once it's all processed then simply enjoy!

For some variations, you can add dark chocolate chips, nuts and fresh fruit. If you want to make more of a sorbet texture, then you can also add some other frozen fruits like oranges or strawberries to your bananas! The list is endless as to what fun creations you can make! Have fun and enjoy!

Check out our fun video we made for my dad, because he was looking for some healthy recipes to make. Ok, so my son insisted on being camera man and is still getting used to keeping the camera steady, but we had so much fun making it!

Hanging out in Point...

What a beautiful day at the Jersey Shore today. It definitely felt like Spring, so we headed out first thing this morning to take a nice long walk with our dog Mandy, maneuvering our way through the woods and then decided to go antique shopping in Point Pleasant, NJ.
Green Planet's Coffee Shop was the first place we visited, located on Arnold Avenue in Point Pleasant, NJ. We relaxed for a bit on their fluffy couches while enjoying one of their signature chai latte's. It had such a cute atmosphere and while I am now and always will be a Starbucks girl, I would definitley go back again. Their chai latte was absolutely delicous!
After a brief stroll down Arnold Avenue and looking in a few shops, we went to the Point Pleasant Antique Emporium to see what treasures we could find! While no BIG finds, my husband did find a few neat post cards. Other than that, we just enjoyed hanging out together and looking at antiques.

Afterwards, we enjoyed a lovely lunch at Jason's Organic Pizza Cafe. The cute little pizzaria features vegan and gluten free options.
I was in my glory after tasting his gluten free pizza! I loved it, although I was a little concerned when I saw vegan and organic because my husband is not a huge fan. Well, to my surprise, he ordered a whole wheat pizza crust and he really liked it.

He also liked the salad as well. Sh... don't tell him, but the salad had spinach on it. He hates spinach, but he ate up every bit and even liked it!! Looks like I will be trying this for him at home! They were very sweet and even checked the package to make sure their was no gluten in my salad dressing, as well letting me know they have other gluten free options available, including sandwich rolls.

He told me he also was unable to eat gluten as well, so he takes a lot of care in the food he prepares. I will definitely be back!

Well, looks like it's back to reality! It's time to pick up our son from the bus, do some homework and maybe make a quick trip to end our day with an ice cream cone! I love this Spring weather!!

Holiday Fun!

Follow Me on Pinterest

This is such a fun way to give cookies this year... We made this adorable all edible chocolate snowman cookie jar. He was filled with cookies and was a big hit this holiday and would be a fun saturday project with kids.

Our chocolate snowman is so easy to make, yet looks like it took a long time. I simply purchased the snowman candy mold at a local candy making store, which comes in 2 parts. You then cut your mold and attach each side with clips and just pour your chocolate in the mold and let set. After snowman is done, you can paint on the face and then fill with cookies or candy.

Super easy, fun and an affordable gift. Keep checking back Carries Kiddie Closet blog for fun gift ideas and our new wedding invitation designs.
